CTL 2017 Conference: Turning Hiring Manager Secrets Into Career Successes

Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor
April 18–20, 2017
Learn More

As career services providers, coaches, and resume writers, we often wonder what a hiring manager looks for in an interview, what a recruiter wants in a resume, or what our candidate can do to earn a promotion.

The CTL Conference April 18–20 in Baltimore, Maryland, will be an opportunity for career professionals to learn from recruiters, hiring managers, and talent development professionals – the people who have a direct impact on our candidate's job search and career advancement goals!

On Wednesday, April 19, recruiters Martin Burns and Shally Steckerl will speak about trends in recruiting, social media sourcing, and how candidates can use social media to connect with recruiters during their search. You will also have an opportunity to hear from a panel of hiring professionals and connect with your career colleagues on practitioner trends.

Martin Burns is Strategic Consulting Leader for HireClix, a consumer advertising agency with a focus on recruitment. A long-time practitioner and corporate recruiting leader, he combines significant expertise in strategy, technology, and marketing. His career has included leading, as well as consulting with, recruitment for some of the world's most significant brands. Before making the move to HireClix, he led talent acquisition technology transformation for PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers). Prior to PwC, he led global recruitment for Mobiquity, a mobile services firm with offices on 4 continents.

Shally Steckerl is a pioneer in talent sourcing. He builds enterprise recruiting engines for Fortune 500 brands to help them find unfindable talent. Shally is sought out by these companies to teach them how to source talent in innovative ways. His background includes serving as a talent sourcing advisor and trainer for Johnson Controls, Akamai Technologies, Netflix, GE, Starwood Hotels, and many more. He was also an internal corporate recruiter for Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., Motorola, and others before becoming a consultant.

On Thursday, April 20, we'll hear from career thought leaders and recruiters on topics including personal branding, job search, resume writing, leadership development, and career advancement with short trend presentations and colleague discussions. Speakers include Susan Chritton, Kimberly Schneiderman, Deb Dib, Marie Zimenoff, Leonard Baker, and more!

Leonard Baker is a contract recruiter who has worked with tech giants (Sony, Lockheed, Cisco, Dolby) and Silicon Valley startups (GoPro, Pinger). He uses his "engineering gene" to connect with his recruits and his entrepreneurial business sense to become a trusted advisor for hiring teams. He has seen the HR technology evolution and its inclusion in the hiring process for a diverse set of companies. As a recruiter, he's connected with thousands of job seekers, getting a first-hand seat to what works and what doesn't.
